man, super-sick. that final panel, with the pirate...i'm a big fan.

there's a ton of good stuff in here - i particularly like the "waiting" sketch. your style seems to jump from anime-ish to more painterly...

the one painting, i'm pretty sure it's uma thurman from pulp fiction - i get the feeling you're using a lot of whites to lighten up the flesh tones, instead of using colors that are already in the mix, your yellows, reds, etc. also, the hair could be a mixture of colours, like a red/green/blue, etc, to get a richer black. i find that using straight black really deadens a piece. try to play more with the actual colors instead of just adding white or black, and you'll get better results.

a few other things - the hand holding the cig is really well painted, nice work. nitpick wise, she doesn't appear to have any lower eyelids, the whites of her eyes shouldn't be that white, as they'd be shaded by her brow/hair, and, the biggest one - that cigarette smoke feels totally halfassed - like you tried to cram it in that top corner.

igo pretty much covered eeverything else, so yeah. keep at it.

i went waaaaay overboard with the sanding...those wetsanding sponges are not precision instruments.

I'll have to check out your work! as for the character lineup, yeah I kinda fucked up the inking... but it was only for concept sketches, so I guess it doesn't matter too much... still I should work harder!

Yah, it is. We're all pretty busy wiht our own art and try to make it on here when we can. Quality over quantity, you'll get better crits here than most places.

Gota say Im a bigger fan of the grittier digital work than the airbrushed/softer looking digital work. That blood splattered skull face guy and the piece directly above it are solid man, great work.

I did notice that your line quality got a bit sloppy on the character line-up pieces. Not sure what your thought process was on those, but the execution on piece number two (the street scene) seems way more confident, and it rarely even has line variations.

Try to find a bit better of a balance to emphasize certain strokes and lines to help pop forms and create focal points within your more liniated art. When in doubt, go thinner I guess, because it seems way more natural for yah.

And on that first piece, that background is killer man. Great use of perspective and great way to tone down the contrast to really push the tops further away from the camera, but keeping the detai contained within the illustration. It's soemthing a lot of people have a hard time doing, and this is an excellent example of how to ace it.

Great variety, keep up the good work man and keep us updated.

Hey Maxim,
It sucks that nobody left you a comment or maybe nobody came around to. I was hoping someone who really knew his/her stuff would enlighten you. I don't know how much my advise will help but I'll give it a shot.

The first image is obviously homework. It doesn't seem like you liked to do it. The values could be better in there. The light is coming from above and I would expect the the shades would be lighter on the top face of the bag, darker on the bottom face. But along the bottom ridge of the bag you left some places white, like they are getting the same treatment of the top face of the bag.

I like the line art on the controllers. There's this really nice slight line weight on it that my eye likes looking at! It's really clean that I almost thought it was CG cartoon shade for a sec. Good job there, I don't really have much else to say =)

The character looks like some cool guy- nice feeling in the colors. The thing that pops out to me is your anatomy. I see your doing a style here but for me the legs are too long, the hands are kinda big. I like the face section's lines and colors. I can see the style coming through there. The rest of it is not that strong. I think the best thing to do is before getting into the colors, solidify your lines and form.

Thank you Maxim for taking the time out to comment on my art.
I mostly appreciate the Crit. I've taken that into consideration and I've avoided doing super think outlines. Alot of the time I subconsciously do it as a cheap way to make the drawing jump out at you. I am glad you pointed it out. I'll try not to do the cheap tricks. =)
It seems like this forum isn't as lively as I thought it was despite the amazing artists that post here. However I should also try to be helpful to other people here too. I'll try to do that.

Oh man, I really love this. I think the line widths are fine, but I think colors would really clear this up as far as any clarity it needs.

I actually like the hair thing, the idea was all of the aliens in the movie looked like normal everyday people, people that were perfectly groomed and well dressed normal members of society.

I also agree about the lineweights being all over the place, very difficult to get any sense of depth out the piece, really flattens it. Its a shame, cus I thin otherwise this would ruleeeeee.
